The table below summarises the armaments deployed on the fortifications of Valetta and the Floriana Lines in 1861. The 7-inch RBL (100-pdr) has been introduced but the RML guns are yet to be developed. Apart from the 7-inch RBL, all the other guns are smoothbore weapons. This is a total of five hundred and forty two guns. Many of these guns were to remain on site for decades, as was the case in Gibraltar and many other locations, even though the guns were not shown on official returns.
